Hays Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital and is the result of a two-hospital merger in 1991. The 158-bed facility serves a population of about 130,000 citizens in northwestern Kansas and is located on a spacious campus in northeast Hays.

During the year 2004, HMC admitted 6,651 patients, treated 6,871 patients surgically, treated 97,730 citizens as outpatients, and more than 90,000 patients were seen at the hospital’s medical group’s specialty and rural health clinics.
